The athletics track
So, we have school, the athletics, and I'm here for one month. This will probably be my life for the next 9 months. Yes, I have the feeling that I'm settled down here, in this beatifull city. This is how a 'normal' week here looks like:
On Monday, I wake up at 5.35am (like every other day in the week). I eat, I get on my uniform (on Monday it's a suit) and then I have to catch my bus at 6.25am. On Monday we have a ceremony at school, and all the students have to sing the national anthem (except of Kathleen, the other YFU student at my school, and me because we aren't ecuadorians). Then classes start, at 7am. We have 8 or 9 classes from 40 minutes every day, with one break at 11am. Then I'm always hungry so I eat something in the cafetaria. At 1pm or 1.40pm, classes end and then I go home. Kathleen and I agree: the school system is defenietly not perfect. There should be more breaks and sometimes the teacher just arrives 20 minutes late in the class. Sometimes they also just talk about random things that have nothing to do with the subject of the lesson. Although, every day I understand more and more of the lessons. When I come home, I eat (rice and chicken most of the time), I do some laundry or just listen some music and at 4pm I have athletics training till 6pm. On Monday and Friday we do sprint training, on Tuesday and Thursday we have power training. On Wednesday I usually do a siesta. When I'm home, I take or a cold shower or a really hot shower because the shower doesn't work that perfect. Then I do homework if we have homework and then we eat (rice most of the time). After that we watch some tv with the family and then they go upstairs and I go to my room. Actually all the days in the week are the same, except of the uniform I have to wear for school: on Thursday we have gym classes so we wear sports clothes and on the other days a jeans with a polo of the school and a jacket of the school.
Also the university of Priscilla started. The university is in Quito so mostly of the time we're 4 now. Celene still has vacation. In the weekend, I try to do as much as possible. My hostmother works on Saturday and they also really like siestas. Yesterday for example, we went to the cinema. For the first time in my life I saw a movie in 3D. It was also in spanish and without subtitles. Then you have for example the moment that everybody was laughing except of me cause I didn't understand the joke lol. It are also Fiestas de Ibarra now, I don't really know what will happen but on Friday night there were just lots of people in the park. I went out with Celene and her friends. I already saw these guys a few times, and they're all really nice. One week ago we went with some friends of my class to someone's house and we ate a huge pizza.
Me with Pablo, we're the two tallest guys in our school.
Because my hostparents went to Quito last week to sell their appartment there, I made spaghetti for myself and Celene. It tasted pretty good, just because it was no rice! We also made empaƱadas once and yesterday we went to a restaurant were we basically ate lots of meat.
That's about it. I'm really happy with my life here, and time really flies. Muchas gracias for reading!!
